If you’ve been following my adventures, you already know that I love exploring everything Ohio has to offer, and after a year of living here, I can say Columbus has truly stolen my heart.

Whether you’re a local looking for weekend plans or visiting the city for the first time, there are so many fun and unique things to do in Columbus, Ohio. From cozy farmers markets and art-filled spaces to outdoor escapes and one-of-a-kind experiences, this city always has something new waiting to be discovered.

Visit The Livingston Ranch

If you’re craving a little fresh air and countryside charm without leaving the city, The Livingston Ranch is a must-visit. This family-run ranch offers horseback riding through 3 different trail options, which is a peaceful retreat from the hustle of downtown Columbus. Whether you want to book a trail ride, take photos with the horses, or just enjoy a slow morning surrounded by nature, Livingston Ranch is the perfect escape. It’s one of those hidden gems that gives you all the “mini getaway” vibes right here in central Ohio.

Explore Columbus Metro Parks

If you love being outdoors (especially when Ohio’s weather finally cooperates), you have to check out the Columbus Metro Parks system. There are over 20 parks to explore, offering everything from hiking and biking trails to kayaking and wildlife watching.

A few local favorites include:

• Darby Creek Metro Park – Beautiful trails, nature center + Bison!!

• Blacklick Woods  – Perfect to see from a birds point of view from a canopy in the trees.

• Quarry Trails – Features a small but gorgeous waterfall, a plank walk over water, and is close to coffee! 

• Prairie Oaks Metro Park – A great spot for kayaking and features a dog park.

  
  

Whether you’re hiking, hammocking, or just watching the sunset, the Metro Parks are one of the best free things to do in Columbus year-round.

Get Creative at Maker's Social Craft Bar

For my crafty & cocktail-loving crew. Located in the Franklinton Arts District, Maker's Social craft bar lets you sip drinks while making your own custom project. Think leather coasters, keychains, wall hangings, or even personalized gifts. The best part? You don’t need to be a DIY pro because the team there helps guide you every step of the way. It’s creative, cozy, and so much fun. Pro tip: book your table in advance because weekends fill up fast!

Stroll Through Columbus Farmers' Markets

If there’s one thing I love about living in Ohio, it’s how many incredible farmers' markets there are across Columbus. Each one has its own charm. From fresh produce and flowers to handmade goods and local treats.

A few of my favorites:

• Dublin Farmers Market – Known for many amazing local vendors and a variety of seasonal produce.

• Worthington Farmers Market – One of the biggest and best in the city.

• Westerville Farmers Market – Smaller but full of friendly faces and great finds.

There’s nothing like grabbing an iced coffee, browsing local stands, and spending a Saturday morning soaking up the Columbus community vibes.

Step Into Another World

One of Columbus’s most unique attractions is literally called Otherworld, and it lives up to the name. This immersive art experience combines interactive rooms, glowing installations, and surreal spaces that make you feel like you’ve stepped inside a dream. Every corner is photo-worthy, and it’s perfect for anyone who loves art, adventure, or just wants to experience something totally out of the ordinary.

Let Loose at Studio 18 Splatter Paint Room

If you’re looking for something totally different and ridiculously fun, Studio 18 Art Collective has a splatter paint room. You suit up in protective gear, grab some paint, and go wild on a blank canvas. It’s messy, creative, and the best kind of stress relief. Whether you go solo, on a date, or with friends, it’s one of those experiences that leaves you laughing and covered in paint, in the best way possible.

Try Firefly Bungee Fitness

Looking for a workout that’s new and unique? Try Firefly Bungee Fitness, one of the most interesting fitness studios in Columbus. Imagine doing squats, jumps, and dance moves while suspended in a bungee harness. It’s part cardio, part resistance training. You’ll feel like you’re flying (and trust me, your core will definitely feel it the next day). It’s a great way to shake up your workout routine and support a local fitness studio that’s full of energy and community.
